About Us
learn about what we doOur Story
Platypus is an NGO which strives to create a more equal, tolerant and inclusive society. Its main focus is on particularly marginalized and vulnerable groups, above all LGBTI and refugees/asylum seekers/migrants.
Platypus has been a maverick in its activities in Croatia on a number of occasions. Our project Sport Unites has been the first LGBTI project financed in Croatia by the European Union through ERASMUS+.
We have opened debates on very important topics that did not receive the attention needed in Croatia and many other European countries, including the problems LGBTI refugees face in Europe (rejection rates for LGBTI asylum seekers are much higher than for asylum seekers in general) and the position of LGBTI people in Christianity and Islam through project Support LGBTI Migrants
– In our work we have tried to make Croatia reach human rights standards of Northern European countries. In our future projects we aim to continue working on that mission through spreading EU values in Croatia.
