🌍 And just like that… it’s time to say goodbye! ❤️Today was departure day for our Human Rights 101 youth exchange, and while it’s always difficult to say goodbye, we are leaving with so many great memories, new friendships, ideas, and lessons learned. A huge THANK YOU to all 57 participants from Croatia, Italy, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, and Bulgaria for making this week so special! 🇭🇷🇮🇹🇦🇹🇷🇴🇷🇸🇭🇺🇧🇬Throughout this amazing week in Orahovica, we learned, discussed, questioned, shared, laughed, challenged our perspectives, and discovered how important it is for young people to understand and stand up for human rights. ✊🌱Thank you for your openness, energy, curiosity, creativity, and willingness to learn from one another. As part of our Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "Human Rights 101," taking place in Orahovica, Croatia, from 24 to 30 July 2026, participants created a creative and humorous video exploring the difference between freedom of speech and hate speech.The story follows a young man who constantly mocks, insults, and spreads hate toward everyone around him without considering the impact of his words. Everything changes when he has a dream in which the roles are reversed, and he becomes the target of the same hurtful behavior. Experiencing the consequences of hate firsthand encourages him to reflect on his actions, develop empathy, and rethink the way he communicates with others.Through humor and relatable storytelling, the video delivers an important message: while freedom of speech is a fundamental human right, it also comes with responsibility. One of the highlights of our Human Rights 101 Youth Exchange was our vibrant Intercultural Evening! ✨Participants from Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Austria, and Bulgaria proudly presented their countries by sharing traditional food, customs, music, and interesting facts about their cultures. Throwback to RETOY 🇸🇰♻️Looking back at September 2025, we're reminded of an unforgettable week in Košice, Slovakia, where our Croatian team joined young people from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria for the RETOY Erasmus+ youth exchange.What started as a week of meeting new people quickly turned into an inspiring journey of creativity, sustainability, and digital innovation.One of our biggest challenges—and highlights—was taking part in a clean-up of Košice's city centre. The waste we collected didn't end up in the bin. Instead, we transformed it into a unique Smart City model using the principles of JunkArt, proving that with teamwork and imagination, "trash" can become something meaningful.We also stepped into the world of 3D printing, learning how to operate the printer, prepare designs, and print decorations for our city model, as well as toys that were later donated to the charity Podaj Ďalej. It was amazing to see technology being used to support both creativity and the local community.Another exciting part of the project was experimenting with AI tools to create short promotional videos using footage from our clean-up activities. It showed us how digital technologies can help spread important messages about environmental protection in creative and engaging ways.At the end of the exchange, we proudly presented our work during a local event at CVČ Domino in Košice. Our Smart City model found a new home at the youth centre, visitors explored the possibilities of 3D printing, learned about JunkArt, and discovered what Erasmus+ has to offer.And, of course, the intercultural evenings remain some of our favourite memories. 📖 Wrapping up an inspiring week at our Youth Exchange "Populism 101"! 🇪🇺Over the past few days, our participants have explored some of the most important topics related to democracy and populism through interactive workshops, debates, simulations, and collaborative learning.Together, we explored:🔹 What populism is and the relationship between the people" and "the elites."🔹 How populism differs from liberal democracy and why these differences matter.🔹 The Populist Playbook , where the Hungarian team examined the strategies commonly used by populist movements.🔹 Media Literacy led by the Serbian team, helping participants recognize populist rhetoric and narratives in traditional and social media.🔹 The similarities and differences between left-wing and right-wing populism.🔹 How populism manifests across our partner countries, allowing participants to compare political realities and exchange perspectives.🔹 The concept of Luxury Beliefs and its influence on political discourse.🔹 A thought-provoking discussion on Has Liberal Democracy Become Populist?, encouraging participants to critically reflect on the challenges facing democratic systems today.🎥 Today was Media Day! Day 2 of our Youth Exchange "Populism 101" 🇪🇺Yesterday, our participants officially began the educational part of the Populism 101 Youth Exchange with a series of engaging workshops exploring the foundations of democracy and good governance.Throughout the day, participants took part in:🇸🇰 The 4 Pillars of Democratic Governance – facilitated by the Slovakian team, exploring the principles of the rule of law, human rights, separation of powers, and pluralism.🇷🇴 The Island State – an interactive simulation led by the Romanian team, where participants experienced the challenges of building and governing a democratic society.🇭🇷 Standards of Governance – delivered by the Croatian team, focusing on accountability, transparency, and freedom of the press.🇳🇱 Tension Points: Majority vs. Minority Rights – facilitated by the Dutch teamThe day concluded with a vibrant Intercultural Evening, where each national group shared their country's traditions, food, music, and customs. 🌍 Political Literacy 101 has come to an end!Today marks the final day of our Erasmus+ youth exchange “Political Literacy 101”, which took place in Fužine, Croatia, from 17–25 May 2026.Over the past days, young people from Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, and Bulgaria came together to learn, discuss, share ideas, and strengthen their understanding of political literacy and active citizenship.During the exchange, we explored many important topics, including democracy, foundations and deviations from democracy, free speech, consensus building, political ideologies, migration and its impact on democracies, populism, European institutions, electoral processes, youth participation, and the role of young people in society.Participants also took part in group-building activities, intercultural learning, creative campaigning, preparation of final outputs, Youthpass reflection, final evaluation, and the closing ceremony. Projekt "Paleta svjetonazora"Ponosni smo što možemo objaviti da krećemo s novim izazovom! Posebno nam je zadovoljstvo istaknuti da je ovo naš prvi projekt sufinanciran sredstvima Grada Zagreba.Što je "Paleta svjetonazora"?Živimo u vremenu "echo chambera" i sve veće polarizacije. Svijet se često pokušava svesti na crno-bijele kategorije, ali mi vjerujemo da su naši svjetonazori puno bogatiji i kompleksniji. Projekt istražuje gdje prestaje sloboda govora, a počinju ljudska prava, te kako razvijati kritičko razmišljanje u moru informacija.Uspješno smo odradili prvu fazu projekta! Kroz suradnju s ekspertima i posjete različitim organizacijama i udrugama, pripremili smo materijale koji će mladima pomoći da razumiju društvenu kompleksnost.Sada prelazimo na najuzbudljiviji dio – fazu provedbe! Očekuje nas 10 radionica u kojima će sudjelovati oko 200 mladih iz zagrebačkih škola i domova. Program je podijeljen u tri ključne serije:1. Identifikacija svjetonazora – Uz pomoć "političkog kompasa" istražujemo vlastita uvjerenja i stavove.2. Moralni temelji – Duboko promišljamo o vrijednostima poput brižnosti, poštenja i lojalnosti kroz simulacije i debatu.3. From 2–8 January 2026, we had the opportunity to take part in the Collaboratory Erasmus+ Partnership Building Activity in Tallinn, Estonia which was implemented by IZUM Youth Club.During this inspiring week, we met and exchanged ideas with project managers and representatives from 19 different countries across Europe.
