United in Diversity

Trans* and intersex people are among the most marginalised groups in Croatia. Furthermore, few Croatians know much
about trans* and intersex issues, which is a fertile ground for a development of stereotypes and prejudices of trans* and
intersex people. The consequences for trans* and intersex people are striking and include social exclusion, rejection by
friends and family, difficulties in finding a job and inadequate health care, among others. This project is conceived as a
follow up project to youth exchange Classroom Inclusion, where participants analysed the topics of stereotypes and
prejudices, including those towards LGBTI people. On one workshop the participants listened to the lecture by an
intersex person about his problems in the Croatian health system. This lecture had a deep impact on the participants so
they conceived this project through which they want to raise awareness among young people, and especially among
young people who are studying to become doctors and nurses, about the problems trans* and intersex people are
facing.
